To help prepare for your appointment, please read below.
Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your appointment, so that you’ll have plenty of time to relax and complete any paperwork that may be required. Arriving late will limit the time of your treatment, as your appointment must end at the scheduled time to accommodate our next patient’s appointment. While we will do our best to accommodate you, rescheduling your appointment may be necessary. In such cases, the cancellation policy will apply. If you are running behind, please contact our office so we can plan accordingly.
Should you need to cancel, please do so at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, your credit card on file will be charged the cancellation fee of $50.
Appointments scheduled for Monday must be cancelled / rescheduled by 3pm on Friday before in order to avoid cancellation fees.
Specific services may have different cancellation / late / no show policies depending on the appointment time and preparation involved.
Do NOT have any dental work one month before or after dermal filler injections. This includes, but is not limited to root canals, crowns, fillings, tooth extractions, dental implants, bridges, dentures, night guards, etc. This does not apply for Botox and Dysport injections.
Do NOT consume alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment (alcohol may thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising).
Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications, if possible, for a period of 3-7 days before treatment. Medications and supplements, such as aspirin, Vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, and other NSAIDS, have blood thinning effects and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections. If your cardiologist or primary care physician has you on a blood thinner, you must obtain clearance from them prior to discontinuing. Tylenol can be used as it does not increase the risk of bruising.
Schedule your dermal filler and neuromodulator (Botox and Dysport) appointment at least one month prior to a special event, such as a wedding or vacation. Results from neuromodulator injections will take approximately 7 to 10 days to appear. Also, bruising and swelling may be apparent for several weeks. Sculptra takes longer to see results so plan accordingly with your provider.
Reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you have a rash, cold sore, or blemish on the area. If you are on antibiotics for or have an active infection, we will NOT treat you with dermal fillers.
If you have a history of cold sores, please let your provider know. They may put you on an anti-viral medication prior to treatment if you are having lip filler injections.
Arrive at our office with a clean face. Be sure to have a good meal, including food and drink, before your procedure. This will decrease the chances of lightheadedness during treatment.
You are not a candidate for dermal filler or neuromodulator injections if you are pregnant or breast feeding.
Do NOT receive facial/laser hair treatments 2 weeks prior to dermal fillers to decrease the risk of infection.
POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS FOR BOTOX / DYSPORT
Do NOT manipulate the treated area for four hours following treatment. Do NOT receive facial/laser treatments or microdermabrasion after neuromodulator injections for at least 3 days. Ask your provider if you are not sure about the time frame of certain services.
We believe that making facial expressions in areas injected on the day of your Botox/Dysport treatment will improve your results.
Do NOT lie down flat, touch or rub the treated areas for 4 hours after your treatment. This will prevent the Botox/Dysport from diffusing into the eye area and causing a droopy eyelid.
It can take approximately 4 to 14 days for final results to be seen. It is recommended that a touch-up, if needed, be done no later than 2 weeks after initial treatment.
Do NOT perform activities involving straining, heavy lifting or vigorous exercise for 6 hours after treatment. This will help keep the Botox or Dysport in the injected area
POST-TREATMENT CARE FOR DERMAL FILLERS
Avoid significant movement or massage of the treated area unless instructed by the provider.
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
Avoid extensive sun or heat for 72 hours.
Avoid consuming excess amounts of alcohol or salt for several days after treatment to avoid excess swelling.
If you have swelling, you may apply a cool compress for 15 minutes each hour. An antihistamine such as Claritin, Zyrtec, or Allegra may be helpful.
Avoid cosmetic treatments such as laser, ultrasound, peels, facials or microdermabrasion for 1-2 weeks after treatment with Botox or Dysport. Ask your provider for clarification on time frame between services.
Use Tylenol for discomfort.
Try to sleep face up and slightly elevated if you experience swelling.
Take Arnica to help the bruising and swelling. Start at least 2 days prior to injections. Bromelain, from pineapple, also helps bruising.
Do NOT receive facial/laser treatments for at least 2 weeks after treatment.
Follow the instructions provided in the aftercare booklet and/or download the VI Peel App.
Normal side effects include but are not limited to redness, mild stinging, dryness, mild itching.
During the 7-10 days post-peel:
Peeling Flaking/Peeling typically begins 5-7 after the peel is applied. When this begins, remembering the following:
Skin will feel tight or dry right before it peels.
Do no pick, pull, or roll the skin as this could lead to significant irritation and possible hyperpigmentation and scarring.
Peeling may look like flaking, sheet peeling, or may be barely visible to the naked eye. The amount of visible peeling you will experience varies greatly. You will peel as much as your skin needs to peel.
Flaking/Peeling may last 3-4 days and varies from person to person. If any products in your Patient Aftercare Kit sting or irritate beyond your tolerance, stop and reach out to your practitioner.
Shaving can be resumed after the peeling process is complete.
Waxing can be resumed 2 weeks after peeling process is complete.
Exfoliating products can be resumed 1 week after peeling process is complete.
Swimming/pools can be resumed after peeling process is complete.
Scheduling the next VI Peel and or Body treatments should be scheduled every 4-6 weeks (for best results)
If you are prone to herpes simplex outbreaks, such as cold sores, consult your provider on ways to treat prior or whether the procedure is appropriate for you.
If your face or treatment area has irritated skin (sunburn, open wounds, sores) the day preceding your appointment, please contact our office before your appointment to reschedule.
This procedure may not be performed on active breakouts or open lesions. Please consult your provider prior to SkinPen procedure to address any such issues.
Wait at least six months past isotretinoin (Zenatane, Absorica, Myorisan, Claravis and Amnesteem) use before your SkinPen procedure, as isotretinoin use may impair proper wound healing.
If you have recently used spray or self-tanning lotions on treatment areas before your SkinPen procedure, discuss with your provider.
Avoid sun exposure for 24 hours prior to your SkinPen procedure.
Discontinue the use of topical products containing AHAs, Retinol or Vitamin A for three days prior to your SkinPen procedure.
If you are in autoimmune therapy, ask your provider if the procedure is appropriate for you.
The day of your SkinPen procedure:
Unexpected complications may occur when products not proven safe for use with microneedling are applied post procedure.
Avoid strenuous exercise or excessive perspiration, as excess blood flow and sweat can cause discomfort and irritation to compromised skin for 72 hours.
Strictly avoid sun exposure as you will not be wearing sunscreen. You may return to sunscreen use 24 hours following the procedure. Continue to minimize sun exposure for 72 hours following the procedure.
The day of your Virtue RF procedure:
Day of Procedure: ABSORB
After your procedure, gently blot the tattooed area with a clean tissue every 30 minutes to an
hour. This helps to remove excess lymphatic fluid and prevent hardening that may lead to
Days 1-7: CLEANSE
Gently wash the tattooed area twice daily (morning and night) with clean water and a very mild
soap such as Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser or use Bactine Antiseptic Spray and clean cotton. This is
very important as this removes excess oils, buildup, dead skin, and potential bacteria. Do NOT
use any towels or washcloths! Gently pat dry with a clean tissue. Do NOT use any cleansers on
the treated area containing exfoliants/acids (glycolic, salicylic, lactic, etc.).
Days 1-7: MOISTURIZE
Apply a VERY THIN layer of provided aftercare cream (about the size of a rice grain per brow)
after cleansing. Be sure to not over apply as this will suffocate the skin and hinder the healing
process. You may begin to apply SPF of at least 30 or higher on day 10 to protect pigment as it
heals. Wearing SPF daily is necessary to prolong the life of your permanent makeup and prevent
premature fading from unprotected UV exposure.
Days 1-10: AVOID
For the first 10 days post procedure, be sure to avoid:
-Unprotected sun exposure. No tanning for 4 weeks post procedure. Always wear a hat when
outside, SPF may be worn beginning day 10.
-Exercise/sweating for a MINIMUM of one week
-Swimming pools, lakes, saunas, hot tubs
-Excessive water saturation (limit showers to 5 minutes and try to avoid too much steam)
-Makeup, topical products (besides provided aftercare cream) on the tattooed area.
-DO NOT rub, scratch, pick, or touch the tattooed area as it heals. Only touch when cleansing
and applying aftercare cream. Although very rare, if you do happen to develop any scabbing let it
exfoliate away naturally as picking will result in loss of pigment.
If you experience any issues or signs of a reaction or infection, call the office immediately at
