What is microneedling?
Microneedling with PRP, or without, combats the signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles, as well as skin problems like stretch marks, acne scars and thinning or crepey skin. Microneedle therapy is minimally invasive, causing thousands of microscopic injuries across the treatment area. These injuries induce the body’s natural healing factors, sending collagen and elastin to repair and rejuvenate the skin. This process thickens the skin and reduces signs of aging.
Applying a topical treatment after microneedling allows the treatment to penetrate deeply into the skin, which again enhances its efficacy and allowing for more even distribution of the product. This process is derived from the patient’s own blood, Platelet Rich Plasma, or PRP, contains several growth factors and cytokines that aid in cell communication and promote healing.
Who is a candidate?
Microneedling is effective for a number of different skin issues, including:
- Acne scars
- Skin laxity
- Overly large pores
- Stretch marks
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Photo aging or sun damage
Microneedling may also improve the appearance of scars and boost your skin’s texture, color, and tone. It’s safe on all skin types.
What types of Microneedling treatments are available?
The staff at LeJeune Aesthetic Centers offer Microneedling treatments, with Hyaluronic Acid or PRP, depending on your goals and the health of your skin. The team works with you to determine which one is best for your situation.
Microneedling with PRP
Platelet-rich plasma is derived from your own blood, which is spun down to concentrate the platelets and their immense healing power. PRP’s growth factors go to work in these deeper skin layers, encouraging collagen growth as well as rejuvenation of collagen cells. Microneedling done in conjunction with the application of PRP can effectively treat acne scaring and has been proven in numerous studies to speed healing and repair for everything from fine lines to hair loss.
Depending on your Skin Goals
Visible improvements typically appear about 2-4 weeks from the time of treatment. However, optimal results are noticeable after 6 months with additional follow up treatments. Therefore, a series of 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart is ideal for most patient. Although, some conditions such as; deep wrinkles, stretch marks, and extreme acne scaring could take up to 6-8 treatments for best results.
