The chemical peel is one of the oldest cosmetic procedures in the world and was performed in ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome to help people achieve smoother, more beautiful skin. Typically administered as a facial peel, a chemical peel enhances and smoothes the texture of the skin.
It is an effective treatment for facial blemishes, wrinkles, and uneven skin pigmentation. It exfoliates the outer layers of dead skin, revealing a new skin layer with improved tone, texture, and color.
How can a chemical peel help me?
Chemical peels involve applying clinical-grade salicylic acid-based chemicals to your face. These solutions exfoliate your skin by forcing old, damaged cells to shed. A chemical peel improves the appearance of:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Sun damage or age spots
- Certain types of acne or blemishes
- Enlarged skin pores
- Acne or surgical scars
- Uneven skin tones
Chemical peels are known for being a top-requested solution for men and women with chronic skin discoloration, like melasma. The peels leave your skin smoother and more vibrant.
During your visit, your aesthetician evaluates your skin and helps you decide on the correct chemical peel for your skin. Then your aesthetician carefully applies the solutions to your skin and allows the treatment to set.
Once your treatment is complete, your aesthetician removes the chemicals and applies post-peel topical solutions to soothe your skin. Then you’ll go home with a comprehensive care plan, so you’ll know how to help your skin heal and what to expect next.
When will I see results after a chemical peel?
While a chemical peel starts working right away, it can take several days for you to notice the difference. Depending on the depth of your peel and how quickly you heal, you may have some redness for the first 24-48 hours.
The treated surface layer sheds gradually throughout the first week — sometimes up to about 10 days. After this initial healing stage, your fresh, new skin starts shining through, and this is just after one session.
For optimal results, our team recommends 4-6 peels, spaced out about from 4 to 6 weeks. Because your skin ages, especially with exposure to the sun or pollutants, you can always schedule touch-up peels once you finish your treatment package.
